Description

ROCK EYE VORTEX (ロックアイ ヴォルテックス) is part of TENRYU's Hard Rockfish series from the shore lineup, balancing power for a strong fight, delicate rig control and sensitivity to the slightest bite - built for everything from finesse fishing in harbour areas to heavy-cover, strong-style rockfishing.

Blanks are left unsanded for lightweight, comfortable handling, with a C.N.T composite butt section for added stiffness. Guides are K-guide stainless frame with SiC-S rings (titanium frame on the spinning models' butt guide), and NISHIJIN-textile carbon pipe covers the foregrip and reel seat. Target species: redspotted grouper, fat greenling, rockfish, Sebastes oblongus Günther and scorpion fish, fished with Texas rigs.

This listing stocks three ROCK EYE VORTEX models: the baitcasting RV882B-HH (2.64m/8'8", fast action, max 45g, max line 30lb/PE 2.0) - a long-cast, power-fight model specialised for heavy cover such as seaweed and tetrapods; the spinning RV912S-MLM (2.77m/9'1", regular action, max 30g, max line 14lb/PE 1.0) - a super-long-casting finesse model for rigs around 14g; and the spinning RV9112S-X (3.02m/9'11", regular action, max 50g, max line 30lb/PE 2.5) - a super-long-casting long model for reaching rarely-explored offshore points.

What makes it different

Built to fish, not just to sell

The blank

An unsanded blank finish keeps ROCK EYE VORTEX comfortable to handle over a long session, with a C.N.T composite butt adding stiffness for winching rockfish out of heavy cover such as seaweed and tetrapods.

What it's built for

Part of TENRYU's Hard Rockfish series, balancing power for a strong fight, delicate rig control and bite sensitivity — the RV882B-HH built for long casts into heavy cover, the RV912S-MLM for super-long-casting finesse work with lighter rigs, and the RV9112S-X for reaching rarely explored offshore points.

How it fishes

Work Texas-rigged soft plastics slowly along the bottom, keeping contact through structure and setting the hook firmly once weight is felt through the K-guide stainless frames and SiC-S rings.

The setup it likes

Pair the RV882B-HH with a baitcasting reel on 30 lb braid, and the spinning models with a 3000–4000 reel on PE 1.0–2.5 and a fluorocarbon leader matched to cover density.

Straight answers

FAQ

What does the power rating (UL, L, M, MH) actually mean?

JDM power letters often run lighter than the same letter on a US or Australian blank. The honest spec is the lure-weight range in grams on each listing — match that to what you throw, and use the letter as a tiebreaker.

How do I read Japanese rod lengths?

Japanese lengths are written in feet and inches as a decimal: 6.6 reads as 6 feet 6 inches, not six-point-six feet.

One-piece or multi-piece for travel?

Two-piece and telescopic travel rods pack shorter and ship more easily. One-piece blanks feel cleaner, but long parcels can attract courier length surcharges and some carriers route them more slowly.

What warranty or service do imported rods have?

There is no local service centre for a JDM rod. Repairs go back to Japan, usually with a fee and a multi-week turnaround — we state that plainly so you can weigh it before you buy.

Will a one-piece rod cost more to ship?

It can. Long parcels attract courier length surcharges on some routes and can move through fewer carriers. Any shipping cost shows at checkout before you pay — no surprises after the order.
