ノガレ160F (Nogare 160F) extends Pickup's Nogare minnow line after more than two years of field testing following the original ノガレ120F.

Lengthening the body over the 120F was aimed at drawing strikes from fish that showed no interest in the shorter model, while carrying over and refining the wake and surface ripple the 120F was known for. Pickup describes the 160F's goal as balancing "standing out and staying subtle" — enough presence to draw attention without over-alerting wary fish.

The swimming action

The Nogare series uses a fixed weight system that gives a quick rise on the cast and holds the lure tracking level on the surface, producing a faint ripple and subtle side-to-side wobble across the range rather than a splashy wake; the 160F carries over the same surface signature with slightly more presence than the 120F.

When to throw it

Aimed at seabass that are aware of the surface but showing poor response to floating minnows or sinking pencils, working year-round on slender baitfish patterns and excelling in dead-calm, glassy-flat conditions where a subtle presentation counts.

How to work it

A slow, steady retrieve that keeps the ripple ticking along is the standard approach, since the lure is built to draw interest from wary fish without spooking them; avoid heavy rod work that overpowers its subtle action.

The setup it likes

Suits a 9-10ft seabass rod with slightly more backbone for the longer body, paired with a 3000-3500 size reel, PE 0.8-1.2 braid and a 14-18lb fluorocarbon leader.
