Description

The Landing Shaft G Free (ランディングシャフト G フリー, LANDING SHAFT G FREE) is Shimano's lightweight telescoping landing-net shaft for general saltwater lure fishing. Spiral X Core construction keeps the blank strong against bending, twisting and crushing at a low weight; features include a mat rubber coating on the butt section for wet-hand grip and abrasion resistance, an anti-seize joint structure Shimano rates at 3x its previous durability against post-landing joint sticking, a G Cross Protector at the joints, and an air-assist butt cap for a smooth, fast extension.

This listing covers the 350 (3.50m, 9 sections, 270g, folded 48.5cm) and 450 (4.50m, 9 sections, 325g, folded 59.5cm) lengths. The net-thread fitting is Whitworth 1/2-12.

What makes it different

Built to fish, not just to sell

The blank

Spiral X Core construction keeps the shaft strong against bending, twisting and crushing at a low weight, and an air-assist butt cap lets the sections extend in one smooth, fast motion rather than being pulled out one by one.

What it's built for

A general saltwater lure-fishing landing-net shaft, built for seabass and similar jetty and structure fishing where a long reach is needed to net a fish beside a wall or rocks.

How it fishes

The anti-seize joint structure is rated at three times the previous model's durability against post-landing joint sticking, and a mat rubber coating on the butt gives a secure, abrasion-resistant grip with wet hands.

The setup it likes

Choose the 350 (3.50m) for jetties and low platforms, or the 450 (4.50m) for high harbour walls and rock structure; fits any net head with a Whitworth 1/2-12 thread.

FAQ

What does the power rating (UL, L, M, MH) actually mean?

JDM power letters often run lighter than the same letter on a US or Australian blank. The honest spec is the lure-weight range in grams on each listing — match that to what you throw, and use the letter as a tiebreaker.

How do I read Japanese rod lengths?

Japanese lengths are written in feet and inches as a decimal: 6.6 reads as 6 feet 6 inches, not six-point-six feet.

One-piece or multi-piece for travel?

Two-piece and telescopic travel rods pack shorter and ship more easily. One-piece blanks feel cleaner, but long parcels can attract courier length surcharges and some carriers route them more slowly.

What warranty or service do imported rods have?

There is no local service centre for a JDM rod. Repairs go back to Japan, usually with a fee and a multi-week turnaround — we state that plainly so you can weigh it before you buy.

Will a one-piece rod cost more to ship?

It can. Long parcels attract courier length surcharges on some routes and can move through fewer carriers. Any shipping cost shows at checkout before you pay — no surprises after the order.
