Description
Shimano's エクスセンス (Exsence), a dedicated high-end spinning reel from the EXSENCE sea bass (shiibasu) lineup, renewed around the brand's "Real Seabass" philosophy for anglers fishing harbours, rivers, tidal flats, and surf. A low-inertia MGL (Magnum Light) rotor sharpens response on the initial turn and on stopping, picking up a lure's wobble and subtle current changes, while a full-metal body keeps the retrieve feel smooth and controlled. Infinity Cross adds gear durability, Infinity Drive adds retrieve power, Infinity Loop tightens line lay for a cleaner cast and steadier drag delivery, and a Rapid Fire Drag lets anglers snap the drag setting up in roughly half a turn of the knob versus about two turns without it — useful for stopping a fish that is diving for structure. An Anti-Twist Fin at the bail controls line slack to cut trouble on the retrieve.
The C3000MHG steps down to a lighter, more compact body sized for 8-9.5ft sea bass rods and finesse-leaning games; the 3000MHG is the standard, normal-gear all-rounder with PE1.2-150m capacity, balanced for a wide range of sea bass rods; and the 4000MXG is built for big water such as large rivers and tidal flats that need long casts, or for chasing oversized fish, with capacity for 1.5-class PE line and an extra-high-gear retrieve of 101cm per handle turn suited to long rods over 9.5ft and long-distance work.

FAQ
Is the JDM version different from the US or AU release?
Often, yes. JDM releases can differ in spool depth, weight and handle options, and the Japanese lineup is usually broader — including sizes and models never exported.
Will spare spools from my current reel fit?
Spool compatibility is per generation, not per model name. Check the model year and size code against the spool before buying — the model code is listed on every reel.
What size should I choose?
As a ladder: 1000–2500 for finesse and light lines, 2500–4000 for general lure work, 4000 and up for heavy or salt duties. Match the size to your line and water first.
PG, HG or XG — what's the difference?
PG is a slow, powerful gear for cranking. HG is the all-round high gear. XG is the fastest retrieve for picking up slack quickly — higher speed trades away winding torque.
What warranty or service do imported reels have?
There is no local service centre for a JDM reel. Repairs and servicing go back to Japan, usually with a fee and a multi-week turnaround — weigh that before you buy.
Can I still get spares for older JDM-only models?
Often, yes — Japanese makers keep parts lists for older models, and some spares are stocked here. See the spares and custom parts collection, or ask before you order.
