Description

STELLA is Shimano's flagship general-purpose spinning reel, built around what Shimano calls its three "Infinity" technologies: Infinity Cross (a revised gear-tooth design giving roughly double the gear durability of the previous design in Shimano's in-house test), Infinity Loop (denser, more even line lay that cuts cast-release resistance), and Infinity Drive (a low-friction bushing supporting the main shaft for powerful retrieve under load). An Anti-Twist Fin at the line roller reduces line trouble, and a Dura-Cross drag washer is rated at over 10x the wear resistance of the previous washer while keeping the same smooth drag feel. The build also carries HAGANE gear and body, Micro Module Gear II, X-Ship, Silent Drive, X-Protect sealing and an AR-C spool.

This listing covers three sizes. 1000SSPG: gear ratio 4.4, max drag 3kg, self-weight 165g, spool 40/13.5mm, max retrieve 55cm/turn, 35mm handle, 12BB+1 roller. C2500S: gear ratio 5.1, max drag 3kg, self-weight 175g, spool 44/13.5mm, max retrieve 70cm/turn, 45mm handle, 12BB+1 roller. 2500SHG: gear ratio 5.8, max drag 4kg, self-weight 205g, spool 47/17mm, max retrieve 86cm/turn, 55mm handle, 12BB+1 roller.

Japanese product name: ステラ (22ステラ).

FAQ

Is the JDM version different from the US or AU release?

Often, yes. JDM releases can differ in spool depth, weight and handle options, and the Japanese lineup is usually broader — including sizes and models never exported.

Will spare spools from my current reel fit?

Spool compatibility is per generation, not per model name. Check the model year and size code against the spool before buying — the model code is listed on every reel.

What size should I choose?

As a ladder: 1000–2500 for finesse and light lines, 2500–4000 for general lure work, 4000 and up for heavy or salt duties. Match the size to your line and water first.

PG, HG or XG — what's the difference?

PG is a slow, powerful gear for cranking. HG is the all-round high gear. XG is the fastest retrieve for picking up slack quickly — higher speed trades away winding torque.

What warranty or service do imported reels have?

There is no local service centre for a JDM reel. Repairs and servicing go back to Japan, usually with a fee and a multi-week turnaround — weigh that before you buy.

Can I still get spares for older JDM-only models?

Often, yes — Japanese makers keep parts lists for older models, and some spares are stocked here. See the spares and custom parts collection, or ask before you order.
