Description
SAHARA is Shimano's entry-level general-purpose spinning reel, built to carry the brand's core drivetrain feel down to an accessible price point. It uses a high-rigidity resin body so the frame resists flex under load and protects gear mesh, a metal handle to avoid power loss through flex, Shimano's HAGANE cold-forged drive gear, and a Silent Drive assembly that removes internal play for a quieter, smoother retrieve. The handle uses the screw-in fixing found on higher-end Shimano reels rather than a cap-fixed design, and the AR-C spool's reverse-taper ring shape is aimed at longer casts with fewer line tangles.
This listing covers three sizes. 2500: gear ratio 5.0, actual drag 3.5kg / max drag 9kg, self-weight 240g, spool 46.5/14.5mm, max retrieve 73cm/turn, 55mm handle, 4BB+1 roller. C3000DH: gear ratio 5.0, actual drag 3.5kg / max drag 9kg, self-weight 265g, spool 46.5/14.5mm, max retrieve 73cm/turn, 40mm handle, 4BB+1 roller. C2000S: gear ratio 5.0, actual drag 2kg / max drag 3kg, self-weight 210g, spool 42/12mm, max retrieve 66cm/turn, 45mm handle, 4BB+1 roller.

FAQ
Is the JDM version different from the US or AU release?
Often, yes. JDM releases can differ in spool depth, weight and handle options, and the Japanese lineup is usually broader — including sizes and models never exported.
Will spare spools from my current reel fit?
Spool compatibility is per generation, not per model name. Check the model year and size code against the spool before buying — the model code is listed on every reel.
What size should I choose?
As a ladder: 1000–2500 for finesse and light lines, 2500–4000 for general lure work, 4000 and up for heavy or salt duties. Match the size to your line and water first.
PG, HG or XG — what's the difference?
PG is a slow, powerful gear for cranking. HG is the all-round high gear. XG is the fastest retrieve for picking up slack quickly — higher speed trades away winding torque.
What warranty or service do imported reels have?
There is no local service centre for a JDM reel. Repairs and servicing go back to Japan, usually with a fee and a multi-week turnaround — weigh that before you buy.
Can I still get spares for older JDM-only models?
Often, yes — Japanese makers keep parts lists for older models, and some spares are stocked here. See the spares and custom parts collection, or ask before you order.
