The Rapala Storm Original Hot'N Tot H is a floating crankbait measuring 5cm and weighing 5g, diving to a running depth of 1.5–4.2m on a metal lip built for a rapid descent.

Information

The swimming action

Like the larger AH, the Hot'N Tot H's metal lip drives a wide wobbling, staggering zigzag motion that kicks in on the descent, built to trigger bites as it works down through the water column.

When to throw it

A long-standing trolling and casting lure suited to bass and other structure-oriented species holding at moderate depth, particularly along points, humps and channel edges in its smaller, shallower-running size.

How to work it

Works trolled or cast and cranked; the erratic zigzag action needs little help beyond a steady retrieve, though a brief pause can extend the strike window on the fall.

The setup it likes

A medium-power casting or spinning rod suits the diving lip well, matched to 8–12 lb fluorocarbon on a reel with a moderate retrieve ratio.
