Magic Shad (マジックシャッド) is part of Major Craft's Rock Liver series, a shad tail purpose-built for bottom rigs — Texas rig, free rig, and direct (jig head) rigging all suit it well.

A high-elasticity body with fine internal ribs holds the hook securely while staying easy for fish to fully inhale. This is the 3.2-inch size, 6 worms per pack.

The swimming action

The shad tail kicks with a tight, high-frequency wobble on a straight retrieve, and the soft, high-elasticity body flexes enough to look natural without tearing off the hook point. Internal ribs pinch the hook shank in place, so the bait sits square through repeated casts and bites.

When to throw it

Suited to rock and reef structure and mixed bottom where fish sit tight to cover, worked on a Texas rig, free rig or jig head. Fishes well year-round on the drop and along the bottom third of the water column, especially where bites come on a slow fall.

How to work it

Cast past the structure and let the bait sink on a semi-slack line, watching for a tap on the drop. Hop it slowly along the bottom or swim it with a slow, steady retrieve, pausing over likely holding spots to let the tail work on its own.

The setup it likes

A light spinning rod rated to a 1/8-3/8oz jig head, 2500 reel, 6-10lb braid and a 6-10lb fluorocarbon leader covers most rock and bottom fishing with this bait.
