Description

SKUAD (スクアド) is Legit Design's saltwater boat and inshore rod series. The SKC-GC64ML-SEABASS is a baitcasting model in the SKUAD Boat Seabass lineup (item code 112-509), a glass-composite hardbait rod built for close-range structure fishing.

Full length 1.93m, self weight 135g, 2-piece construction with a 235mm detachable grip. Lure range 10-25g, matched to 10-16lb fluorocarbon or PE#1-1.5 line, MF action. The blank blends 40% carbon, 10% aramid and 50% glass, letting the softer glass content absorb hook-sets on hard baits and cushion sharp runs close to structure.

What makes it different

Built to fish, not just to sell

The blank

The glass-composite SKC-GC64ML-SEABASS blends carbon, aramid fibre and glass for a softer, more forgiving bend than an all-carbon blank, letting the rod cushion violent strikes and short runs when a seabass bolts for structure at close range.

What it's built for

Built for boat seabass fishing tight to bridge pillars, jetties and other hard structure, where hardbaits need to be worked and fish need to be turned away from cover immediately after the take.

How it fishes

Suits a steady hardbait retrieve with occasional twitches, and the softer glass tip helps absorb a hookset on treble-hooked baits without pulling hooks on a short line.

The setup it likes

Pair with a compact baitcasting reel, 10–16lb fluorocarbon or PE#1–1.5 with a short heavy leader for abrasion resistance near structure.

FAQ

What does the power rating (UL, L, M, MH) actually mean?

JDM power letters often run lighter than the same letter on a US or Australian blank. The honest spec is the lure-weight range in grams on each listing — match that to what you throw, and use the letter as a tiebreaker.

How do I read Japanese rod lengths?

Japanese lengths are written in feet and inches as a decimal: 6.6 reads as 6 feet 6 inches, not six-point-six feet.

One-piece or multi-piece for travel?

Two-piece and telescopic travel rods pack shorter and ship more easily. One-piece blanks feel cleaner, but long parcels can attract courier length surcharges and some carriers route them more slowly.

What warranty or service do imported rods have?

There is no local service centre for a JDM rod. Repairs go back to Japan, usually with a fee and a multi-week turnaround — we state that plainly so you can weigh it before you buy.

Will a one-piece rod cost more to ship?

It can. Long parcels attract courier length surcharges on some routes and can move through fewer carriers. Any shipping cost shows at checkout before you pay — no surprises after the order.
