Description

ジェスター (Jester) is a boat seabass rod series fully supervised by Captain Hideaki Ikegami of the popular Tokyo Bay boat seabass guide service "Unlimited." Jackson describes it as a rod series that adapts to constantly changing field conditions, "like a jester."

Blanks are Jackson's own original material, combining power with a supple bend, and guides use Fuji TORZITE or SIC-S rings depending on the model. Target species named across the line-up include seabass, mid-size blue-water pelagics (aomono), mahi-mahi (shiira), skipjack tuna (katsuo), Spanish mackerel (sawara) and flatfish.

This listing covers the JSC-66TL-P+, JSS-610M-SP, JSS-611MH, JSS-705XMH+ and JSC-62IIIXH models.

What makes it different

Built to fish, not just to sell

The blank

Blanks use Jackson's own original material, combining power with a supple bend, described by the maker as adapting to constantly changing field conditions 'like a jester', with Fuji TORZITE or SIC-S guides depending on the model.

What it's built for

Boat seabass fishing supervised by Tokyo Bay guide Captain Hideaki Ikegami, also covering mid-size pelagics (aomono), mahi-mahi, skipjack, sawara and flatfish depending on the model.

How it fishes

Work soft plastics, vibration baits and jerkbaits on varied retrieves depending on model and target, from finesse boat seabass presentations to faster pelagic-style retrieves.

The setup it likes

Pairs with a baitcast or spinning reel sized to the model, PE0.8-2.0 braid and a fluorocarbon leader for boat seabass and incidental pelagics.

FAQ

What does the power rating (UL, L, M, MH) actually mean?

JDM power letters often run lighter than the same letter on a US or Australian blank. The honest spec is the lure-weight range in grams on each listing — match that to what you throw, and use the letter as a tiebreaker.

How do I read Japanese rod lengths?

Japanese lengths are written in feet and inches as a decimal: 6.6 reads as 6 feet 6 inches, not six-point-six feet.

One-piece or multi-piece for travel?

Two-piece and telescopic travel rods pack shorter and ship more easily. One-piece blanks feel cleaner, but long parcels can attract courier length surcharges and some carriers route them more slowly.

What warranty or service do imported rods have?

There is no local service centre for a JDM rod. Repairs go back to Japan, usually with a fee and a multi-week turnaround — we state that plainly so you can weigh it before you buy.

Will a one-piece rod cost more to ship?

It can. Long parcels attract courier length surcharges on some routes and can move through fewer carriers. Any shipping cost shows at checkout before you pay — no surprises after the order.
