A thin curly necktie made from Luminova glow-infused material, used as a trailer skirt on a tairaba head to add a slim, undulating profile in place of the stock skirt.

When to throw it

Best in low light or deeper water where a glow trailer stands out more than a plain-coloured skirt. Typically fished over reef and structure in around 30-100 m of water where red sea bream hold through the day.

How to work it

Rig it onto a tairaba head in place of the stock necktie and fish with a standard slow lift-and-fall retrieve. Keep the retrieve smooth and avoid jerking the rod, since tairaba fish are worked on a steady lift rather than a twitch.

The setup it likes

6'6 inch-7'0 inch tairaba rod rated to 100-150 g, baitcasting or spinning reel, PE1-1.5 braid, 4-6 lb fluorocarbon leader. The soft tip loads up on a bite and helps prevent pulled hooks during the long, steady fight typical of tairaba fishing.
