Description

The Eclipse x Tackle House TKLM90SSP is a limited-edition Semi Suspend colourway of Tackle House's K-TEN TKLM90, produced exclusively for Eclipse. It measures 90 mm and 12.5 g, rigged with #3 split rings and Gamakatsu SP-MH treble hooks.

After a twitch or jerk the lure holds its depth and posture rather than drifting off, hanging in the current to draw bites; the brief drift that follows a fast retrieve is designed to trigger a seabass's predatory strike.

Information

The swimming action

A Semi Suspend tune on Tackle House's K-TEN TKLM90 hull holds depth and posture after a twitch or jerk rather than drifting off, so the lure hangs in the current to draw a bite instead of sinking or rising away.

When to throw it

The brief drift that follows a fast retrieve is designed to trigger a predatory strike from seabass, making it suited to current seams, river mouths and structure where a semi-suspending minnow's hang time is an advantage. It suits current seams and structure where seabass are used to picking off disoriented baitfish drifting past, rather than open, current-free water where the drift-and-strike trigger has less effect.

How to work it

Work it with a fast retrieve followed by a pause to trigger the drift-and-strike response, or twitch-and-pause it more slowly through holding water and let the semi-suspend tune do the rest. Vary the length of the fast burst before easing off, since how much drift is needed to trigger a following fish can change from one session to the next.

The setup it likes

A medium-power seabass spinning rod, a 2500 reel, PE0.6-1 braid and a 10-14 lb fluorocarbon leader suit the 90mm, 12.5g TKLM90SSP and its Gamakatsu SP-MH trebles. A rod with a fast enough tip to work a genuine fast-retrieve burst, paired with light enough hooks and leader to let the drift look natural, suits this lure's specific trigger.
