TEMMINCK (テミンク) is the centre-balance, all-rounder model in Eclipse's HOWERULER tachiuo jig line, developed and tested in Tokyo Bay for technical, high-pressure tachiuo (hairtail) jigging. Its three-sided body gives it strong flash and appeal as a search bait, contacting fish on both the retrieve and the fall — Eclipse recommends starting with TEMMINCK when unsure which jig to tie on. It suits one-pitch one-jerk, slow jerk, high-pitch jerk, and straight-retrieve techniques.

How to work it

It suits one-pitch one-jerk, slow jerk, high-pitch jerk, and straight-retrieve techniques, contacting fish through both the jerk and the fall, so keep contact with the jig on the drop rather than feeding out slack line. Keep in contact with the jig through the fall as well as the retrieve, since TEMMINCK's flash and all-round appeal mean strikes can come at almost any point in the stroke.

The setup it likes

A dedicated tachiuo jigging rod or boat spinning/baitcasting outfit matched to the jig weight, PE1.5-3 line, and a wire or heavy fluorocarbon leader to cope with tachiuo's teeth.
