The swimming action

A fixed-weight, front-loaded body gives the Blazin long casting distance, and a bevel-cut bill grips water immediately on the retrieve so the lure starts working without any wind-up. A rear tail flip adds lift and keeps it stable and tracking straight even at high retrieve speeds.

When to throw it

Built for shore-based Spanish mackerel (sagoshi) and bluefish games where casting distance and a fast, stable retrieve matter, imitating a sardine baitfish pattern. It suits open coastline and piers where these fast, toothy predators are working bait schools near the surface.

How to work it

A fast, steady retrieve is the standard approach, since the bill and tail design are built to hold the lure stable and tracking true at speed, matched to the roughly 1-2m diving range it's designed to hold. Keep the rod tip low to stop it skipping out, and expect sharp, jarring strikes typical of fast-moving pelagic predators.

The setup it likes

A medium-power spinning rod around 9ft, a 3000-4000 reel, PE1-1.5 braid and a wire or heavy fluorocarbon leader (20-30 lb) help handle the sharp teeth and fast strikes typical of sagoshi and bluefish. A short length of heavier mono or wire ahead of the hook is worth adding in mixed company, since sagoshi and bluefish will readily bite through a standard fluorocarbon leader on a hard take.
