The Beach Walker Haul Shad (ビーチウォーカーハウルシャッド) is a slim shad-tail soft plastic worm from DUO's Beach Walker Haul flatfish system, designed to pair with the Haul Head jig head. A pre-drilled internal liner lets the Haul Head's metal plate pass straight through the body for quick, reliable rigging. The material stays flexible through a strike so it doesn't get in the way of the hook-set, cutting down on missed bites, and the tail section is slightly larger than comparable worms so it keeps a strong, natural swimming action without collapsing under water pressure.

Built for flounder (hirame) and flathead (magochi) around the surf and flats.

A slim shad-tail profile with a pre-drilled internal liner lets it thread straight onto the matching Haul Head jighead, and its slightly oversized tail section keeps a strong, natural kicking action going without collapsing under water pressure at typical surf retrieve speeds.

When to throw it

Designed as the soft-body half of DUO's Beach Walker Haul flatfish system, it suits the same surf and flats water as the rest of the range, wherever flounder (hirame) and flathead (magochi) are feeding tight to a sandy bottom. It also works as a replacement when the factory shad on a Haul Head jighead wears out.

How to work it

Rig it on a Haul Head jighead of a weight matched to the current and depth, then work it along the bottom with a slow drag-and-pause. The soft, flexible material stays out of the way of the hook-set, so missed strikes are less common than with a stiffer worm.

The setup it likes

A 9ft surf spinning rod, a 3000-4000 reel, PE1-1.5 braid and a 16-20 lb fluorocarbon leader suit this shad fished on a jighead in the 15-25g class. Keep a few spare Haul Head jigheads in different weights on hand, since matching jighead weight to the current and swell on the day matters more than any change in retrieve for this shad.
