ICHIRIN 55F 蒾 (TSUBOMI) is the smaller sibling in DSTYLE's ICHIRIN wakasagi-type floating lure series, produced by pro angler Yui Aoki around the idea that bass prefer to strike Wakasagi (Japanese pond smelt) that are alive and moving.

The 55F is built for a straight (plain) retrieve action and a dying (near-death) action. Unlike the larger 70F, the 55F's line-tie eye position is fixed — a setting tuned to produce the best action as envisioned by Yui Aoki. The hook-point eyelet uses a swivel eye to reduce hook pull-outs, and a realistic tail fin is designed to trigger bites from fish that come in to look but don't commit.

The ICHIRIN 55F is a small wakasagi-imitation floating minnow built around the idea that bass prefer to strike smelt that look alive and moving. It is tuned for a plain, straight retrieve action alongside a dying, near-death action, with a swivel hook-point eyelet that reduces hook pull-outs and a realistic tail fin.

When to throw it

Suited to wakasagi lakes and clear, pressured water where bass are used to seeing lures and need a small, natural profile to commit, particularly when fish are following but not eating larger baits. It suits both clear-water finesse sessions and stained-water searching, since the profile reads naturally at a range of retrieve speeds.

How to work it

A steady, plain retrieve shows the natural swim; pausing it to let it sit and twitch, imitating a dying baitfish, often converts a follow from a cautious fish that comes in to look but does not commit. Watch the line on the fall as well as during the retrieve, since many bites come as the bait is settling rather than moving.

The setup it likes

Suits a 6'-6'6" L to ML spinning rod, a 2000-2500 reel, and 4-6 lb fluorocarbon main line for finesse presentations. Choose a rod with enough backbone to set the hook at range but a forgiving tip to avoid pulling hooks on a short strike.
