Description

TATULA (TATULA), the brand born in the USA's home of bass fishing and loved by anglers on both sides of the Pacific, marks its 10th anniversary with a monocoque body plus AIRDRIVE DESIGN. The ZAION V monocoque body combines lightness and strength, resisting flex under load to assist powerful winding, while the ZAION V AIRDRIVE rotor lowers inertia for light wind-in. The ATD TYPE-L drag gives smooth, stable initial slip that reduces line load, and Quick Drag lets you adjust tension instantly with minimal knob rotation, helping land big bass quickly even on light lines.

The line-up covers an all-round, power-fishing-capable normal LT2500 and the FC (Finesse Custom) model, built one size more compact for finesse performance. Freshwater use only.

Official Daiwa product: 23 Tatula FC.

Information

The drivetrain

The Finesse Custom (FC) build uses a body one size more compact than the standard TATULA for finesse-scale bass work, keeping the same ZAION V monocoque body and AIRDRIVE rotor for a light, flex-resistant retrieve. Overall it behaves as you would expect for a build of this specification, rewarding a measured, deliberate technique over brute force.

What it's built for

Built for finesse bass presentations where a smaller, lighter reel improves lure control and casting accuracy with light line and small baits. It earns its place in the rack for exactly the situations outlined above, rather than as a general stand-in for other gear.

How it fishes

Quick Drag lets you adjust tension instantly with minimal knob rotation, helping land bass quickly even on the light lines typical of finesse fishing. Small adjustments in timing and pace through the retrieve often make the difference between a follow and a committed strike.

Spools and spares

Pair with a light, finesse-oriented bass spinning rod, light fluorocarbon line, and small soft plastics or finesse jigs, for freshwater-only use. Treat the figures above as a starting point and adjust line and leader to match conditions on your own water.
