Description

EMERALDAS RX (エメラルダス RX) is a dedicated egi (squid jigging) spinning reel refined with AIRDRIVE DESIGN, whose high-level operability is a major benefit for the repeated winding and jerking of eging. The ZAION V MQ (monocoque) body keeps strength up for the heavy loads egi fishing can put on a reel, while the smooth, quiet-running Tough Digigear and Daiwa's MAGSEALED waterproof/durability technology sustain initial performance for stress-free fishing. The ATD TYPE-L drag improves initial response and follow-through, greatly reducing break-offs and line breaks even against a surprise large aori squid.

The all-round, year-round normal LT2500 model gives high rigidity and torque-rich winding; the FC 2500 model uses a one-size-smaller body for a finesse set-up with 2.5-3.0 size egi, purpose-built for run-and-gun shallow-water fishing in the high-catch autumn season.

Official Daiwa product: 23エメラルダス RX.

FAQ

Is the JDM version different from the US or AU release?

Often, yes. JDM releases can differ in spool depth, weight and handle options, and the Japanese lineup is usually broader — including sizes and models never exported.

Will spare spools from my current reel fit?

Spool compatibility is per generation, not per model name. Check the model year and size code against the spool before buying — the model code is listed on every reel.

What size should I choose?

As a ladder: 1000–2500 for finesse and light lines, 2500–4000 for general lure work, 4000 and up for heavy or salt duties. Match the size to your line and water first.

PG, HG or XG — what's the difference?

PG is a slow, powerful gear for cranking. HG is the all-round high gear. XG is the fastest retrieve for picking up slack quickly — higher speed trades away winding torque.

What warranty or service do imported reels have?

There is no local service centre for a JDM reel. Repairs and servicing go back to Japan, usually with a fee and a multi-week turnaround — weigh that before you buy.

Can I still get spares for older JDM-only models?

Often, yes — Japanese makers keep parts lists for older models, and some spares are stocked here. See the spares and custom parts collection, or ask before you order.
