The Shugyo Necktie Vivid Curly (集魚ネクタイビビットカーリー, model EW-006P) is a downsized version of Shimano's Ikatako Curly necktie for the Engetsu (炎月) tairaba line, built around a "micro-wave curly" action. Its wide fold-back shape keeps the necktie clear of the hook for stable action, and a reshaped cross-section produces a more complex vibration.

Shimano recommends it for tough conditions and low water temperatures, when madai (マダイ/red seabream) are reluctant to move or bite -- its bite-sized profile is easier for a sluggish fish to take. Spec: 55mm, 3 per pack. Colourway: Isome Green-Pumpkin (イソメグリパン), colour code 010.

The Vivid Curly necktie folds back along its body to stay clear of the hook point, producing a tight, complex vibration rather than a wide kick, with a bite-sized profile suited to sluggish fish that will not chase a bigger bait.

When to throw it

Purpose-built for tough tairaba conditions, cold water and slack tides when pressured red seabream are reluctant to commit to a full-size necktie, making it a useful change when a standard rig is being ignored.

How to work it

Rig it on an Engetsu-style tairaba head and work the usual slow lift-and-fall, keeping the fall controlled rather than fast; the necktie's own micro-vibration does the attracting, so little extra rod action is needed.
