Description

Shimano's high-value ナスキー (Nasci) general-purpose spinning reel. It carries proven HAGANE gear, X-Ship, an AR-C spool, and Core Protect waterproofing, and the current model adds Infinity Drive, a one-piece bail, and an Anti-Twist Fin inherited from higher-grade reels. The 12-model lineup runs 500 through C5000XG, covering freshwater bass and trout through light saltwater, sea bass, surf, and light shore jigging.

Store sizes include: 500, the series' smallest finesse model at 170g for light saltwater and area trout; 1000, a Φ42mm-spool standard for light saltwater through area trout; C2000S and its high-gear C2000SHG sibling, both nylon 4lb-100m light-saltwater/area-trout staples; and the deep-spool 2500, 2500SHG and 4000, which carry nylon 3#-120m (2500 sizes) or a deep spool built for surprise big fish (4000), suiting lure fishing as well as float and light bait fishing across many species.

FAQ

Is the JDM version different from the US or AU release?

Often, yes. JDM releases can differ in spool depth, weight and handle options, and the Japanese lineup is usually broader — including sizes and models never exported.

Will spare spools from my current reel fit?

Spool compatibility is per generation, not per model name. Check the model year and size code against the spool before buying — the model code is listed on every reel.

What size should I choose?

As a ladder: 1000–2500 for finesse and light lines, 2500–4000 for general lure work, 4000 and up for heavy or salt duties. Match the size to your line and water first.

PG, HG or XG — what's the difference?

PG is a slow, powerful gear for cranking. HG is the all-round high gear. XG is the fastest retrieve for picking up slack quickly — higher speed trades away winding torque.

What warranty or service do imported reels have?

There is no local service centre for a JDM reel. Repairs and servicing go back to Japan, usually with a fee and a multi-week turnaround — weigh that before you buy.

Can I still get spares for older JDM-only models?

Often, yes — Japanese makers keep parts lists for older models, and some spares are stocked here. See the spares and custom parts collection, or ask before you order.
