Description
Shimano's bass-fishing-specific コンプレックスXR (Complex XR) spinning reel, updated for the 2025 model year. It runs Infinity Cross for gear durability and Infinity Drive to cut rotational friction, adds an Anti-Twist Fin below the line roller to control slack, and uses a Magnum Lite rotor for light, low-inertia handling. The lightest C2500 F4 models carry a High Response (Rigid Support) drag tuned for finesse fishing on thin line, while the 2500 F6 models pair Rapid Fire Drag with a Duracross drag washer rated at roughly 10x the wear resistance of a standard washer.
The C2500F4XG is the series' lightest model, built on a 1000-size body with an extra-high 87cm-per-turn retrieve for quick, technical line-slack recovery. The 2500F6 is the standard normal-gear bass all-rounder, carrying fluorocarbon 6lb-100m and suited to slow-action presentations that hold a lure at a steady depth.

FAQ
Is the JDM version different from the US or AU release?
Often, yes. JDM releases can differ in spool depth, weight and handle options, and the Japanese lineup is usually broader — including sizes and models never exported.
Will spare spools from my current reel fit?
Spool compatibility is per generation, not per model name. Check the model year and size code against the spool before buying — the model code is listed on every reel.
What size should I choose?
As a ladder: 1000–2500 for finesse and light lines, 2500–4000 for general lure work, 4000 and up for heavy or salt duties. Match the size to your line and water first.
PG, HG or XG — what's the difference?
PG is a slow, powerful gear for cranking. HG is the all-round high gear. XG is the fastest retrieve for picking up slack quickly — higher speed trades away winding torque.
What warranty or service do imported reels have?
There is no local service centre for a JDM reel. Repairs and servicing go back to Japan, usually with a fee and a multi-week turnaround — weigh that before you buy.
Can I still get spares for older JDM-only models?
Often, yes — Japanese makers keep parts lists for older models, and some spares are stocked here. See the spares and custom parts collection, or ask before you order.
