Description

EXSENCE XR is Shimano's dedicated night-game seabass spinning reel, built to bring flagship-adjacent performance to a lower-light, feel-driven fishing style. Micro Module Gear II smooths and quiets the retrieve, sending more information back through the rod for retrieve-heavy lures like sinking pencils and minnows; a long-stroke spool widens the line lay for easier, lower-resistance casts; Silent Drive removes internal play for a quieter spin; and Rigid Support Drag supports the spool on two bearings (main shaft and spool) for stable drag under sudden runs from a hooked seabass. Shimano's page describes it as built for anglers in relentless pursuit of seabass.

This listing covers two sizes. C3000M: gear ratio 5.3, actual drag 3.5kg / max drag 9kg, self-weight 185g, spool diameter/width 47/17mm, max retrieve 78cm per handle turn, 50mm handle, 9BB+1 roller. 3000MHG: gear ratio 5.8, actual drag 3.5kg / max drag 9kg, self-weight 200g, max retrieve 86cm per handle turn, 55mm handle.

Japanese product name: エクスセンス XR (23エクスセンスXR).

FAQ

Is the JDM version different from the US or AU release?

Often, yes. JDM releases can differ in spool depth, weight and handle options, and the Japanese lineup is usually broader — including sizes and models never exported.

Will spare spools from my current reel fit?

Spool compatibility is per generation, not per model name. Check the model year and size code against the spool before buying — the model code is listed on every reel.

What size should I choose?

As a ladder: 1000–2500 for finesse and light lines, 2500–4000 for general lure work, 4000 and up for heavy or salt duties. Match the size to your line and water first.

PG, HG or XG — what's the difference?

PG is a slow, powerful gear for cranking. HG is the all-round high gear. XG is the fastest retrieve for picking up slack quickly — higher speed trades away winding torque.

What warranty or service do imported reels have?

There is no local service centre for a JDM reel. Repairs and servicing go back to Japan, usually with a fee and a multi-week turnaround — weigh that before you buy.

Can I still get spares for older JDM-only models?

Often, yes — Japanese makers keep parts lists for older models, and some spares are stocked here. See the spares and custom parts collection, or ask before you order.
