The issei 海太郎レベリングヘッド太軸金鈎 (Umitaro Leveling Head Thick-Shaft Gold Hook) pairs the same horizontal-posture bullet-shaped head as the standard Leveling Head with a gold-plated, thick-shaft #8 hook. Designer Haruhiko Murakami originally built it for ajing on large horse mackerel, and the thicker shaft holds worms securely through long casts and deep-water fishing while standing up to unexpectedly large, hard-mouthed species — sea bream, seabass, and chub — that strike while anglers are targeting aji or mebaru.
