Fishman BC4 8.3XXXH (ビーシーフォー, B.C.4 Brist Compact) is a 4-piece travel pack rod built for large overseas gamefish, packing down to 67cm so it fits in a suitcase despite its extra-heavy XXXH power. The guide inner diameter is set to 6.8mm to improve handling of thick leader material.

Construction: 4-axis carbon, K-guides in titanium and stainless (titanium at the tip). Includes soft carrying case.

Built for anglers travelling overseas to target large gamefish, where a full-length heavy rod won't fit in a suitcase but the power to cast and fight big fish is still required.

How it fishes

Suited to casting heavy poppers and stickbaits at 70-200 g on PE3-10, worked with an aggressive walk-the-dog or steady chugging retrieve depending on the lure and species. Work the retrieve with steady, deliberate rod sweeps rather than a fast wind.

The setup it likes

Pair with a large offshore casting reel, PE3-10 braid and a heavy shock leader; check ferrules for wear after repeated casting sessions. Apply ferrule wax periodically, as Fishman recommends for all its multi-piece pack rods.
