Description

The Kicker Frog Jr (キッカーフロッグjr) is Evergreen's 4.5cm, 8.0g floating frog for bass, built for ultra-compact, tall-bodied topwater work in tight cover. It uses a hollow soft-plastic body with an internal zinc nose weight and an external high-hardness zinc belly weight, a six-keel weedless belly, a silicone rubber skirt and a wide-gap single hook of DECOY design, and carries FECO eco-tackle certification.

Available here in colours #236 Hatsuka Nezumi (ハツカネズミ, field mouse) and #245 Piglet (ピグレット).

The swimming action

An internal zinc nose weight and an external high-hardness zinc belly weight keep the Kicker Frog Jr's hollow soft-plastic body riding stable, while a six-keel weedless belly lets it slide through cover without hanging up.

When to throw it

Built for ultra-compact, tall-bodied topwater work in tight cover, it suits bass holding under matted vegetation, pads or overhanging brush where a full-size frog cannot fit.

How to work it

Walk or hop it across the surface and pause it in gaps and pockets in the cover; the wide-gap single hook and skirt are built to hook and hold fish that strike from underneath.

The setup it likes

A heavy casting rod around 7-7.25ft with a 7:1 baitcasting reel and 40-50lb braid suits punching this frog through matted cover, with enough power to horse fish up and out of the cover it strikes in.
