Description

TEUTHIDA N155 is the current rod in Eclipse's KEINON TEUTHIDA line, designed for "zero tension" (zero-ten) maruika (マルイカ) squid jigging, and specifically for the aggressive "attacking" zero-tension style. It replaces the original TEUTHIDA 165, which is now discontinued with no repair support.

The N155 measures 155cm and weighs 121g, rated for 20-60号 sinkers and PE 0.6-1.0号 line, with grip-joint construction. Three changes distinguish it from the earlier 165 model: titanium guides at the tip section for line control, a shortened butt end for sensitivity, and a spiral guide system to reduce tip weight, aimed at detecting the extremely small bites of the attacking zero-ten style while holding the lure precisely in position.

What it's built for

Built for maruika (spear squid) boat jigging using the zero-tension technique, where the lure is held nearly motionless and bites are read from the faintest line or tip movement. This is usually fished on calm days with minimal boat drift to keep the presentation still.

How it fishes

Fished by holding tension at essentially zero on the drop and lift, watching and feeling for the smallest indication of a squid taking hold before a controlled, deliberate hookset. A rushed strike on this technique often pulls the lure away from a committing squid.

The setup it likes

Pair with a small baitcasting or level-wind reel loaded with PE 0.6-1.0 line and a short fluorocarbon leader. Match it to a light sutte lure rig rather than a weighted egi.
