Description

FLEX-ROLER (フレックス・ローラー) is a jointed big bait inspired by DSTYLE's VIROLA, designed for anglers to actively work rather than simply reel straight back — built for the increasingly high-pressure fields where a big bait retrieved plainly is harder to get bit.

The flat-sided main body cuts cleanly through the water, giving a responsive feel that lets the angler deliberately trigger a head-shaking action. A wide range of motion at the joint allows a tight "table turn" with minimal travel distance, so no cast goes to waste. In areas without current or wind, a dead-slow retrieve can also reproduce an i-shape (dying, straight) action.

The tail design is inherited from VIROLA: fine tail vibration strongly entices bass to bite, and even at rest the tail keeps moving as it catches water flow or wind. An upper multi-purpose eyelet allows use with an assist hook, a bottom-stay presentation, or a roll-action technique. A side eyelet lets anglers attach a treble hook to cover side-strike bites and reduce snagging when the bait is left stationary on the bottom. A rolling swivel line-tie eye is used to reduce hook pull-outs during intense fights.

A wide range of motion at the joint allows a tight table-turn with minimal travel, and the tail keeps trembling even at rest, catching flow or wind.

When to throw it

Built for increasingly high-pressure fields where a big bait retrieved plainly no longer draws bites, so it rewards anglers willing to actively work rather than just reel it straight back. It also works well as a follow-up bait after a more aggressive lure has pulled fish in but failed to draw a solid take.

How to work it

Use rod-worked sweeps to trigger the head-shake and table-turn rather than a plain retrieve; in slack water a dead-slow retrieve can reproduce a dying, straight i-shape action, and it can also be fished on a bottom stay or roll-action technique via its multi-purpose eyelets.

The setup it likes

Needs a dedicated 7'-7'6" MH-H big-bait rod, a low-profile baitcast reel geared around 6:1-7:1, and 16-20 lb fluorocarbon or 40-50 lb braid main line. A 6.3:1 to 7.1:1 gear ratio suits most retrieve styles for this bait, and a smooth, well-maintained drag helps protect hooksets on a strike close to cover.
