The Abu Garcia TAKOSS FIELD 2 (タコスフィールド2) is a shore-based octopus (tako) rod series for both first-time tako anglers and dedicated specialists. TAKC-682H (baitcasting, 6'8"/204cm, H power, 186g) is built for high operability and hooking power when working obstacles in harbour areas at short range; TAKC-782XH (baitcasting, 7'8"/235cm, XH power, 247g) adds long-cast reach to XH hooking power for offshore breaks; TAKS-732H (spinning, 7'3"/222cm, H power, 188g) balances long casts with close-in operability.

All three use a Fuji Top SiC guide, Fuji K-guide, a Fuji reel seat (ECS on baitcasting, VSS on spinning), and Abu Garcia's X-carbon tape wrapping for added torque and twist resistance.

Purpose-built for shore-based tako (octopus) egi fishing: the shorter TAKC-682H suits close-range work around harbour obstacles, the longer TAKC-782XH adds reach for offshore breaks, and the spinning TAKS-732H balances long casts with close-in control. It is best judged against the exact species and situation it is built for, rather than against unrelated fishing styles.

How it fishes

Work the tako egi slowly along the bottom with short lifts and pauses, feeling for the distinctive weight of an octopus taking hold before sweeping into a firm, high-power hookset to pull it clear of cover. Adjust the exact cadence and pace to water clarity, current strength and how actively the fish are feeding on the day.
