Description

A magnet-braked boat reel with a drag-clicker carbon matrix drag and a 100mm double handle, built for kawahagi (filefish) and other small-boat fishing. The magnetic brake (MagTrax) helps control light underhand casts, and the drag clicker lets you gauge line speed by ear for careful, delicate fights. The thumb rest is offset toward the handle arm for a deeper, more secure grip, and the clutch bar uses an asymmetrical design to prevent accidental palming presses. Frame and side plates are graphite; gears are brass DuraGear. On PE1-200m line it also suits LT aji (horse mackerel) fishing.

How it fishes

The 6.5:1 gear ratio, giving 67cm per handle turn, suits a steady, gentle retrieve for feeling out light bites, with the drag set to a maximum of 7kg to protect fine terminal rigs from breaking off. Watching the line and rod tip closely through the retrieve helps detect even the lightest of bites before they are lost.

Spools and spares
