Description

The Abu Garcia Beast 145F is a customisable hard swimbait built around interchangeable parts: two lip styles (square and round bent, each supplied as a pair) and three tail types (PVC, Colorado blade and marabou) combine for more than ten possible setting patterns from one bait. It's made from ABS, weighs approximately 33g, and is packaged with a carry zip bag; recommended hook size is #4.

Swapping the lip changes the running range from just under the surface through to shallow and mid-depth water, and fitting the optional sinker eye lets it reach deeper points still, while changing the tail reshapes the action for different retrieves. This Real Trout colourway is a flashing, photo-print finish suited to daytime fishing and situations where bass are keyed in on baitfish.

Information

The swimming action

The Beast 145F is a modular hard swimbait: two lip styles and three tail types combine to give more than ten swim patterns from one 145 mm, 33 g body. Depending on the set-up it runs anywhere from a tight roll to a wide tail kick.

When to throw it

A daytime, baitfish-imitating bait suited to open water and structure where bass are keyed on baitfish, from just under the surface down to mid-depth once the sinker eye and appropriate lip are fitted.

How to work it

A straight, steady retrieve is the starting point; the chosen lip sets the running depth and the tail choice — PVC, Colorado blade or marabou — sets the kick. Swap parts between casts to dial the bait in to what the fish want that day.

The setup it likes

Suits a medium-heavy baitcasting rod, a reel geared around 6:1–7:1, 14–16 lb fluorocarbon or 30–50 lb braid with a fluorocarbon leader — standard big-swimbait bass tackle.
